Home-Ed Planning for January – February 2024

I really enjoyed using a bullet journal for our home-ed planning last year so I decided to get another for 2024. I decided to keep housework, admin and my paid work planning separate so purchased the minimal planner for that purpose. Both books are beautiful and such good quality, they were purchased from The Inspired Stories who I found on Etsy. I love the soft covers, that they lie flat and that the ink doesn’t bleed through!

Our plans for the coming weeks

I am constantly learning and adapting what and how much to plan but I feel much more confident than when we officially started home-educating just over 3 years ago. I’ve loosely planned the themes and topics we’ll be looking at over the next 5 weeks, then we’ll take a break for half term.

As a side note, we didn’t used to follow the terms but the girls have a number of friends and family in school, so it means we can make the most of the time they are off. Having a ‘break week’ also gives me a bit of head space to reflect and prepare for the weeks ahead.

I take time each week to plan out the activities we’ll do in more detail and to think about any outings/special events we have coming up or interests that the girls have expressed. I am hoping to film a video soon that will go into more detail so stay tuned for that if you’re interested, but in summary these are the subjects/topics/main resources we will be looking at:

Bible: Indescribable & Pilgrims Progress
Language Arts: The Last Bear by Hannah Gold
Maths: Fractions & Division
Science: Human Body/ENWC themes
Geography: Arctic & Antarctica
History: The Stone Age (we started this and dropped it, I’m hoping to pick this back up)
Nature Study & Art: ENWC themes (when they are of interest)
