A New Chapter

If you are following us over on Instagram, you may have seen my update last week that come September our girls will be starting school.

Having home educated from the start, this is going to be a big adjustment for us as a family and is one of several reasons I have been so quiet online over the last few months.

Alongside anticipating the change, it led me to question what it means for This Little Lighthouse going forward too.

I want to add here that at this point, we are unsure whether this will be a long-term change or not, we will be taking things a step at a time. To protect our privacy as a family, I won’t be going into the reasons for our decision, but I do want to thank each of you who have supported and encouraged us on this journey.

So where does that leave This Little Lighthouse in this coming season?

I’ve already been asked several times what I plan to do with my time once the girls are at school, and honestly, I find it hard not to get carried away with my tendency to want to try and figure it all out and make a clear plan. I know deep down though that I need time to rest, reflect and be present to support the girls in the transition.

I started to question whether it was time to put down This Little Lighthouse completely, but at this point, I don’t believe it is the end of the journey here.

All things considered, I thought it might be helpful to share my hopes for the coming months, but I do so with a caveat, that this is an evolving plan which I am holding lightly as I seek to rest and to spend more time in God’s word in the coming months.

My current plan for the coming weeks

Being outdoors and spending time in nature is something that really helps calm my nervous system, rest and connect with God, so I plan to spend plenty of time doing that. I am incredibly grateful that I have the opportunity to be able to do this in a challenging economic climate, it is something I don’t take lightly.

I hope to still work on the business alongside this though and would like to complete the series of resources on Europe, alongside working on a few other ideas. I started the Europe series to help inspire and nurture curiosity and connection as families take a road trip (either virtual or in person) around various countries in our continent.

Alongside this, I will be praying about and exploring the possibility of developing more faith-based resources, which will help and encourage families, just like ours, as we seek to disciple our children. This is something close to my heart that I have wanted to pursue for a long time, but have held back mostly due to doubt, comparison and feeling inadequate.

If this is something you would value, I would love to hear from you, especially in terms of the types of resources you find most helpful.

If you have got to the end of this, I want to say thank you for your patience and support. Whilst there are aspects of the online world that many of us find challenging, I am very grateful for the amazing people and beautiful ideas I have had the privilege of encountering through these spaces.

Lucy ♡
